How to Use C-TEC Peel Tec Paint Stripper (and What to Use for Sticky Residue)
Stripping old paint usually means a heat gun, a lot of sanding and a lot of dust. C-TEC Peel Tec is an aerosol paint stripper that lifts paint and lacquer in around 10 minutes, so you can scrape it off cleanly. Here's how to use it – and what to use instead when the problem is sticky residue rather than paint.
How do you use C-TEC Peel Tec?
Test a small patch, shake the can, spray an even coat over the paint and leave it for about 10 minutes. When the paint wrinkles and lifts, scrape or peel it away, repeat on any stubborn layers, then clean the surface before recoating. Peel Tec works on stone, metal, wood, asphalt and hard plastics – but not uPVC. For sticky adhesive or sealant residue, use C-TEC Multisolve instead.

What does Peel Tec remove?
Peel Tec is made for coatings. It softens old paint, lacquer and graffiti so they lift away from the surface underneath, without the scratches and gouges you can get from scraping or sanding. It's free of methylene chloride (DCM) and needs no heat.

How to use Peel Tec, step by step
- Prepare. Work in a well-ventilated area, between 5°C and 30°C. Put on gloves and safety glasses, and protect anything nearby you don't want to strip.
- Test a patch. Try a small, hidden area first to check the surface is compatible.
- Shake and spray. Shake the can well and spray a generous, even coat over the paint.
- Wait about 10 minutes. The paint will wrinkle and lift. Older or thicker coatings can take a little longer.
- Scrape it away. Lift the softened paint with a scraper or flexible scraper blade.
- Repeat if needed. Spray again on any stubborn layers, wait, and scrape off.
- Clean before recoating. Wipe the surface down so it's clean and ready for new paint or lacquer.

Safety tips
- Ventilate. Use outdoors or in a well-ventilated space.

What is C-TEC Peel Tec?
Peel Tec is a fast-acting aerosol paint stripper from C-TEC. You spray it on, leave it for up to 10 minutes, then peel or scrape away the softened paint or lacquer – no heat gun, sanding or mixing needed.
What surfaces can Peel Tec be used on?
Stone, asphalt, metal and wood, plus hard plastics such as bins and bollards. It isn't recommended for uPVC, which is a soft plastic. Always do a test patch first.
How long do you leave Peel Tec on?
Around 10 minutes. Older or thicker coatings may need a second application – spray again, wait, and scrape off the next layer.
Does Peel Tec remove graffiti?
Yes. C-TEC say it is particularly effective at removing graffiti from metal and hard plastic surfaces.
Will Peel Tec remove sticky label residue or old sealant?
That's not what it's made for – Peel Tec is a paint and lacquer stripper. For adhesive, sealant and silicone residue use C-TEC Multisolve, and for label residue, wax or ink use Timco Adhesive Residue Remover.
Does Peel Tec contain methylene chloride?
No. Peel Tec is 100% free of methylene chloride (DCM).
Can you send Peel Tec to Northern Ireland or the Scottish Highlands?
