Will A2 stainless steel screws rust?
A2 stainless steel is highly resistant to rust in normal indoor and outdoor conditions. In coastal areas, near swimming pools or in constantly wet conditions, choose A4 (316) stainless steel instead.
What's the difference between A2 and 304 stainless steel?
They're the same. A2 is the fastener grade name, and 304 is the steel grade it's made from.
Can I use these screws in oak or cedar?
Yes. Stainless steel is the best choice for oak, cedar and other tannin-rich timbers, because it won't react with the wood and cause black staining like plain steel screws can. Pre-drill in hardwoods to avoid splitting.
